What file formats does PhotosShoot accept for uploads?

PhotosShoot accepts the most common image formats to make uploading as easy as possible.

Supported formats:

  • JPG / JPEG — Most common format from smartphone cameras; ideal for uploads

  • PNG — Great for images with transparency; slightly larger file sizes

  • WebP — Modern format with excellent compression; fully supported

  • AVIF — Next-generation format with superior quality-to-size ratio; supported

    Resolution requirements:

  • Minimum: 512×512 pixels

  • Recommended: 1024×1024 pixels or higher

  • Photos taken on any modern smartphone (2018 or later) typically exceed these requirements

    File size:

  • Keep individual files under 10MB for smooth uploading

  • Very large RAW files or uncompressed TIFFs should be converted before uploading

    What formats are NOT supported:

  • RAW camera files (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG, etc.)

  • HEIC/HEIF — Common on iPhones; convert to JPG first

  • TIFF/BMP — Convert to JPG or PNG before uploading

  • GIFs or animated files

Converting HEIC to JPG on iPhone: Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and select Most Compatible — this saves future photos as JPG automatically. For existing HEIC files, use a free online converter.

Converting on Mac: Open the image in Preview → File → Export → choose JPG or PNG format.

Most users find that photos taken directly on a smartphone and shared via iCloud, Google Photos, or AirDrop work perfectly without any conversion needed.
